Welcome to my website!

Why do I enjoy writing books? I believe fiction brings so much value to our lives. Beyond the endless hours of entertainment books offer the reader, they are the fuel that feeds the fire of imagination. Not literally though; please don’t go burning any books! History has shown that doesn’t end well.

Okay, so a combustion-heavy metaphor may not have been the best choice to describe books with, both from a book-burning perspective and from an environmentally sustainable standpoint. Perhaps books are better described as the photosynthesis that oxygenates our brain’s imagination cells? Oh; or the solar panels that charge our imaginative batteries! You get the picture.

Beyond a few decent books, some good pictures to hang on the wall, and an occasional Netflix series (heavy on nudity, sex and violence of course), what’s so great about imagination, I hear you ask? Well, imagination drives creativity and innovation which, if applied throughout our lives can make us better at our jobs, better at our relationships, and drive us towards an amazing, more sustainable future! So, I’d encourage you all to read more books to fuel (sustainably!) your imaginations!

Given my view on books, writing them seemed a natural (albeit economically challenging) choice. But, economics-be-damned, if my writing can bring enjoyment to some and inspire the imagination of a few minds of others along the way, then I’ll be satisfied with the choice!

A woman’s quest for survival in a future devastated by pollution, mining and war.

I wrote Salvage at a time when climate change was really coming into focus and I was becoming increasingly worried on the legacy our generations are leaving for those who will follow. This felt particularly alarming as a father when I considered what sort of world would my boys would inherit.

With Governments around the world proving slow to act (and Australia among the slowest!), the things I was doing at the time - buying solar panels, reducing waste, moving my Super into environmentally responsible options - didn’t feel like enough.

So I decided to combine my passion for books and story-telling with my passion for preserving the environment, and started writing. I knew Salvage had to be fast-paced, action-packed and exciting, because as a reader, I’d expect nothing less! But hopefully you’ll also find it though-provoking and inspiring.
